Energy Minister Lauds TPCODL’s Technology For Power Distribution In Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Energy Minister Dibya Shankar Mishra paid a visit to the Power System Control Centre (PSCC) of TP Central Odisha Distribution Limited (TPCODL) here and took stock of its operations.

The minister, who was accompanied by Rajya Sabha MP Subhash Singh, former legislator Dr Ramesh Chau Patnaik and Berhampur MLA Bikram Panda, was briefed about the working of the operations of the PSCC and presented a live demonstration of the proactive working on the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and the automation part of the centre, said a company release.

During his visit recently, Mishra appreciated TPCODL for bringing technology in the distribution sector and advised to enhance the implementation of technology to strengthen the system and improve reliability.

Chief Executive Officer, TPCODL, M Shenbagam, said, “We felt honoured for the appreciation of the minister. We will continue to ensure uninterrupted and quality power supply in our operational areas through our efforts and technological innovations.”

The PSCC is the main centre for all the operations of TPCODL 33/11 KV substations. As many as 70 out of the total 90 33/11 KV substations of Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Puri are controlled from this center. It functions with complete remote monitoring and controls the monitoring of the distribution network for any abnormalities and helps in taking corrective measures within stipulated time.

The PSCC centre also carries out remote management of power supply equipment like breakers/isolators and monitoring operational variances.
