2.5 Cr Doses Of COVID Vaccine Administered; Less Wastage Puts Odisha On the Top

Bhubaneswar: Odisha has achieved another milestone in COVID vaccination by administering a record of 2.5 crore doses of vaccines, informed the Health and Family Welfare Department on Friday.

“We thank the people of Odisha for their active participation in the fight against Covid-19,” said Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

While a total of 2,50,11,233 doses have been administered in the state, 1,88,21,072 have received the first dose and 61,90,161 have been fully vaccinated.

On Thursday, 334746 doses (240733-first dose and 94013- second dose) were administered.

Odisha has set a target to vaccinate over 3 lakh people a day.

Meanwhile, the state has topped in the country in terms of curbing vaccine wastage by prudently using the extra dose available in each vial as wastage. Odisha has so far saved 12.2 lakh doses and thus registered -5.5 per cent misuse, which means five for every 100 doses allotted has been saved.

The capital’s entire population can be jabbed at least once with the saved doses.
