Remuna MLA Summoned In Criminal Case In Odisha’s Balasore
Balasore: Balasore sub-divisional judicial magistrate court on Monday issued summons to Remuna MLA Sudhansu Sekhar Parida (BJD) and others in a cheating case and directed him to appear before it on October 21.
Complainant Tanaya Kumar Mohanty (also a BJD activist) from Ranasahi under Chandipur police limits has alleged that Parida had duped him of Rs 12 lakh on the promise of providing finance for a harvester machine before 2019 general elections. However, when the legislator could not arrange finance for the promised equipment, he returned Rs 5 lakh but did not bother to pay back the remaining Rs 7 lakh to Mohanty.
Mohanty has alleged in his complaint to police on November 16, 2019 that the Remuna MLA also borrowed Rs 6 lakh from him separately to fight elections but he was not accessible to him after winning the polls. When Balasore sadar police did not take action on his complaint, Mohanty moved a criminal petition against Parida in the SDJM court here which issued summons to Parida (Court case No.132/2019) on September 20.
According to sources, the court issued summons to Parida, who is the proprietor of Nigamananda Associates, and his business partners Prasanna Jena among others.
