Bhubaneswar: Former chief secretary of Odisha, Rabi Narayan Das, passed away here on Tuesday.
According to sources, he breathed his last at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar.
Das is survived by a son and two daughters.
He served as the chief secretary of Odisha between December 1, 1992, and September 30, 1995, during the tenure of the then Chief Minister Biju Patnaik. He was the 28th chief secretary of Odisha.
Das was the son of Durga Charan Das, who was an administrator, and Nirmala Devi, a noted writer. He was one of 13 siblings, including Bidhu Bhusan Das, a renowned academic; Jamini Mohan Das, former chief engineer, electrical, and ex-chairman of Orissa State Electricity Board; Ananda Shankar Das, Madhya Pradesh-cadre retired IAS officer; Chandi Charan Das, former VC of Berhampur University; Gouri Shankar Das, former director, horticulture; and Bhabani Shankar Das, a marine engineer.
