Tourist Bus From Bengal Overturns In Odisha’s Kandhamal; 30 Injured

Kandhamal: At least 30 persons were injured when a tourist bus from West Bengal overturned at Kalinga Ghati near Andharkot in Odisha’s Kandhamal district on Thursday night.

While the seriously injured have been shifted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur, others are undergoing treatment at Phulbani district headquarters hospital and G Udayagiri government hospital.

According to sources, 60 passengers on board were on a picnic to Daringbadi from West Bengal’s Haldia. The accident took place while the bus was on its way to Puri last evening. While negotiating a sharp turn on the ghat, the driver hit a guard wall following a brake failure.

A person travelling in a car from Tikabali to Bhanjanagar was the first to spot the ill-fated vehicle. He rescued the passengers by breaking the windshield and then informed police, 108 Ambulance Service and Fire Station.
