Cuttack: The 20-member Odisha cricket team for the Ranji Trophy, starting February 10, was announced on Sunday.

At a press meet at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack, head coach Wasim Jaffer named the 20 players to be led by captain Subhranshu Senapati. Former Hong Kong captain Anshuman Rath has also made it to the list.

The Odisha squad – Subhranshu Senapati (C), Anurag Sarangi, Santanu Mishra, Sandeep Patnaik, Anshuman Rath, Govind Poddar, Abhisek Rout, Debasis Samantaray, Rakesh Pattnaik, Sujit Lenka (WK), Rajesh Dhuper (WK), Jayant Behera, Papu Ray, Subham Nayak, Basant Mohanty, Rajesh Mohanty, Debabrata Pradhan, Prasant Rana, Ashish Ray and Tarini Sa.

While Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) will host Elite Group B matches of the upcoming Ranji Trophy, Team Odisha won’t feature at home. The team have been placed in Elite Group D of the premier domestic competition and instead travel to Ahmedabad to play the matches against Saurashtra, Mumbai and Goa.

Prior to the tour, Odish will play practice matches for two days against Baroda at Barabati Stadium here on February 8, OCA secretary Sanjay Behera informed.

Besides Baroda, Bengal, Hyderabad and Chandigarh will also play in the state.

The Indian domestic season was halted in January due to partial lockdown imposed in major cities amid a rise in the number of cases of the Omnicron variant. The revised format will see all 38 teams taking part but they have been divided into 9 groups (8 Elite and 1 Plate). And a total of 64 matches will be played across Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Rajkot, Delhi, Guwahati, Cuttack, Trivandrum, Chennai and Haryana over a period of 62 days.
