Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said today is a historic day on the education front as school bells rang after two years.
Addressing students and guardians after the schools reopened for higher classes on Monday, the Chief Minister called upon the students not to fear about COVID-19 and enjoy their time in the institutions.
Requesting parents to send their children to schools and not panic, Naveen asked the parents to encourage the children to follow COVID protocols to stay safe. “Wear mask when at school and outside, and use soap to wash hands to keep the virus at bay,” Naveen advised the students.
Invoking the Sanskrit sholka “Gurudevo Bhava’, he called upon the teachers to help the students to make-up the gap in education wile following the COVID protocols. “I trust you teachers with resuming education and ensure that students learn what they have missed in two years of closure of schools,” said Naveen.
Schools have reopened for students of Class VIII and above and so also colleges, ITIs, polytechnics, professional institutions and universities. Hostels in colleges and universities were reopened on Sunday.
