Panchayat Polls: BJP Goes Full Throttle Against BJD In Western Odisha

Sambalpur: With the campaign in the panchayat elections reaching the final stretch, the opposition BJP went full throttle in targeting the BJD government in the state to swing the electorate in favour of its candidates.

Speaking to media persons, here on Tuesday, BJP’s state president Samir Mohanty, who is on a campaign trail in western Odisha, said the security of children and women is under threat in the state in the BJD rule.

Stating that the crime rate has shot up due to patronage of criminal elements by the ruling party, Mohanty said 4 cases of rape and 6 kidnaps are reported from the state on an average every day. Around 27,000 children have gone missing in the last 5 years, he added.

He alleged that the BJD has left no stone unturned to misutilise government machinery and money and muscle power to influence the voters to win the panchayat elections. It has also resorted to criminal activities like kidnap and assault to threaten its rival candidates, he added.

Mohanty further said the corruption has reached a new low in the state as the ruling party has siphoned huge amount from the Central funds meant for various welfare works for the poor like houses for homeless and MSP for the farmers.

The voters have taken note of the true image of the BJD for its  anti-people policies and practices and will vote against it in the panchayat elections across the state, the BJP president claimed.
