Bhubaneswar: Pea-puns flooded Twitter after Odisha IPS officer Arun Bothra shared a picture of his handbag, which he was asked to open at the security check of the airport while heading back from a recent trip in Rajasthan’s Jaipur.

To everyone’s surprise, the bag was filled was green peas.

A 1996-batch IPS officer, he is now serving as the Chief Managing Director CMD of Odisha State Road Transport Corporation.

Taking to his official Twitter handle on Wednesday, he shared the picture and wrote: “Security staff at Jaipur airport asked to open my handbag.”

Replying to his tweet, IAS officer Priyanka Shukla wrote: “‘Mutter’ of grave concern.”  “That’s a pea-tiful situation,” another user wrote.

My wife used to buy fresh brinjal and cauliflower from Kolkata and carry in handbag. Faced similar situation. Airport Securities couldn’t believe! We used to laugh!

Reminds me of that time when we were at US customs.. eating our amrood .. full tokri we brought from Allahabad..
We were told throw it or eat it there only…produce cannot be brought into US…

You are not allowed to carry coconut. (Coconut or Mosambi given in a bag along with pan, supari in marriage as attendence mark (?).) First time we were in a situation at Chennai, Security took pity & told us to break it. Somehow my wife cracked it in washroom.😃

Bothra later revealed that he had bought 10kg of the legume at Rs 40 per kg.
