Fact Check: Will All Adults In India Be Eligible For COVID Vaccine Booster Dose?
New Delhi: India started a precautionary third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine only in January. That, too, for frontline workers and people above the age of 60.
Soon, the Central government may be expanding its vaccination programme to include booster doses for all adults, according to Reuters.
The report quoted sources close to the matter as saying that the Central government is yet to decide if the third dose of the vaccine will be administered free of charge.
Since January, frontline workers and people above the age of 60 are eligible for a booster dose in India.
India reported under 2,000 new COVID-positive cases on Monday at a time when a number of countries are reporting a steep surge in coronavirus infections.
According the Union Health ministry, 2.17 crore booster doses have been administered.
The total number of COVID vaccine doses given so far is over exceeded 180.80 crore.
