Toll Plazas Within 60 Km Of Other Booths To Be Closed In 3 Months: Nitin Gadkari

New Delhi: Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari announced on Wednesday that all active toll collection booths within 60 km of any other toll booth will be shut down within three months.

Gadkari, who was speaking on Demands for Grants for Road Transport and Highways Ministry for 2022-23, said that there aren’t supposed to be any toll collection point within 60 km of another toll booth on National Highways. But illegal booths are active, and he gave an assurance of norms being fully implemented in three months’ time.

“What’s happening is wrong and illegal. I assure you that within the next three months, within 60 km, there will be only one toll collection point… if there’s a second one, we will shut it down. Just because we (government) get money from them, doesn’t mean people should suffer,” Gadkari said.

Gadkari stated that people residing close to toll plazas will be able to get toll passes by showing their Aadhar cards.
