Rainfall Likely In These Odisha Districts Amid Fears Of Another Storm In Bay Of Bengal; Heat March Continues
Bhubaneswar: The regional centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast rainfall activity in Odisha till 8.30 am on April 5 under the influence of cyclonic circulation/low-pressure area over the southeast Bay of Bengal that is likely to form by April 6.
The areas likely to receive rainfall in the next two days are:
Till 8.30 am of April 4: Light to moderate rain/thundershower very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of North Coastal Odisha, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Koraput, Rayagada and Gajapati. Dry weather likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha.
April 4 to 8.30 am of April 5: Light to moderate rain/ thundershower very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak. Dry weather likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha.
April 4 to 8.30 am of April 6: Light to moderate rain/thundershower very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati and Mayurbhanj. Dry weather very likely to prevail
over the rest districts of Odisha, the IMD stated in its mid-day release on Sunday.
Meanwhile, several parts of Odisha continue to reel under intense heatwave. Six places in Odisha recorded maximum temperature (day) above 40 degrees Celsius (till 12 noon).
Balangir recorded the highest temperature of 42.2 degrees followed by Titilagarh at 41.7, Ambabhona 41.6, Jharsuguda 41.5, Sundargarh 40.5, Sonepur 40.2 and Boudh 40 degree Celsius.
Other centres where the temperature hovered around 40 are; Bhawanipatna 39.5; Malkangiri 39; Phulbani recoreded 39.5 degree which is 2.7 degrees higher than normal for this time of the year, the IMD added.Sambalpur too recorded 39.5 during the period which is 1.4 degrees higher than normal.
No large change in maximum temperature expected during next 4-5 days, the IMD stated. a few places over the districts of interior Odisha are likely to witness above normal temperature by 2 to 3 degree C at during the period, the IMD added.
