XE Variant Not Fatal, No Need To Panic: NTAGI Chief
New Delhi: The Centre on Monday said there was no need to panic after cases of the new XE variant of COVID-19 were reported from Maharashtra and Gujarat.
National Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (NTAGI) chief NK Arora said the X series came from the Omicron family and were not causing serious symptoms.
The XE variant is not fatal, the NTAGI chief said.
“Omicron is giving rise to many new variants. It’s part of the X series like XE and others. These variants will keep on occurring. Nothing to panic about… At the moment from Indian data it doesn’t show a very rapid spread,” he told ANI.
