Bhubaneswar Replaces Odisha’s Hotspots, Registers Season’s Highest Temperature

Bhubaneswar: For the first time this summer, the day temperature in Bhubaneswar on Saturday surpassed Sonepur which has been the hottest place in Odisha on most of the days.

According to the evening bulletin of the regional centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD), the capital city was the second hottest place in the state on the day. The maximum temperature (day temperature) in the city was 41.7 degree Celsius, next to Angul which recorded state’s highest 42.1 degree.

As many as 21 places in the states recorded temperature of 40 degree Celsius or more and mercury touched 41 degree in 9 places.

Cuttack, Baripada, Balangir and Parlakhemundi registered the maximum day temperature of 41 degree Celsius, while Deogarh, Boudh and Dhenkanal reported 41.5 degree.

The IMD has forecast that the daytime temperature is likely to gradually rise by 3 to 5°C at many places in Interior Odisha during next 3 days due to northwesterly-westerly dry air and high solar insolation. It is expected to remain 2 to 4°C above normal across all districts during next two days and 3 to 5°C above normal in interior Odisha during the subsequent 3 days.
