Apprehending trouble, the authorities of Bhadrak College postponed the examinations till restoration of normalcy.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, in his Twitter message, appealed to the people of Bhadrak to maintain peace and harmony.

I sincerely appeal to all in Bhadrak for peace & harmony; have directed stringent action against any attempt to disrupt peace.

— Naveen Patnaik (@Naveen_Odisha) April 7, 2017

State Congress president Prasad Harichandan condemned the violence and appealed for peace and restraint.

On Friday, protests over derogatory Facebook posts on Lord Rama and
goddess Sita turned violent with agitators setting police vehicles
afire and damaging shops.
