Ollywood Actor Biraj Dash, Battling Cancer, Passes Away At 63 In Odisha’s Capital
Bhubaneswar: Veteran Ollywood actor Biraj Dash passed away on Wednesday at a private hospital in Odisha’s capital. He was 63.
Dash was suffering from lungs cancer and had been hospitalised for the past four months. He passed away at 9.20 pm.
A versatile and critically acclaimed actor, Dash, who was born on June 15, 1959, acted in both Odia tele-serials and films in a career spanning more than three decades.
He began his career in Odia films with Bagula Baguli (1986). The last film in which he acted is Ajati, which is yet to be released.
Some of his popular films are Mo Bhai Jaga (1995), Prem Bandhan (1999), Jaa Devi Sarva Bhuteshu (1989), Maa Pari Kie Heba (1999), Pua Bhangidela Suna Sansara (1999) and Golamgiri (1987).
Among his popular tele-serials are Sai Baba, Atatai and Nagafasa.
A devotee of Shirdi Sai Baba, he portrayed the role so well in Sai Baba that people started revering him as the seer.
Among the plays in which he worked are Bhagabata Tungi, Dekha Barsha Asuchi, Jhara Baula, Kapata Pasa and Bohu Katakiani.
Dash, who studied management in Mumbai, started out as a bank employee before plunging into acting.
