Kalahandi: Two persons were arrested with seven fake currency notes of Rs 2,000 denomination from a weekly market at Mohanagiri in Kandhamal district on Thursday.
The duo, identified as Ismail Bagh and Mukund Seth, went to the market to purchase a goat from a businessman, Bairagi Rana, and paid him in four Rs 2,000 notes. Rana found the notes to be fake and refused to accept them. He called out fellow traders, who caught hold of the duo and later handed them over to police.
Seven fake currency notes of Rs 2,000 denomination with a face value of Rs 14,000 were recovered from them.
