Temperature Rises To 40 Degree Celsius Or More In 13 Places of Odisha Amid Monsoon Forecast in 2-3 Days

Bhubaneswar: Even as monsoon is forecast to enter Odisha in next 2-3 days, heatwave condition continued to prevail in most parts of the state as 13 places recorded temperature of 40 degree Celsius or more on Tuesday.

In its evening bulletin, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said mercury rose to 42 degree Celsius in 8 places of western Odisha. Sonepur was the hottest place in the state with maximum temperature rising to 44.4 degree Celsius.

Sonepur was followed by Balangir with 43.6 degree, Jharsuguda 43.5, Sambalpur 43.4, Hirakud 43,  Angul 43, Sundargarh 42.5 and Titlagarh with 42.4 degree on the day.

The twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack registered day temperature of 38 and 38.4 degree Celsius.

However, Angul town received a respite from the sweltering heat in the afternoon as nor’wester accompanied with rain brought down the temperature in the afternoon.

Meanwhile, the IMD has forecast that conditions are also favourable for further advance of monsoon into some more parts of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh, entire Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana and some parts of Odisha in 2-3 days.

The Met office has also issued yellow warning for several districts which are likely to experience thunderstorm with lightning fornext 5 days. It has forecast that light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at many places in North and South Odisha in next 24 hours.
