[Watch] Odisha Flood: Villages Inundated By Dhanua River Water In Puri
Puri: Around ten villages were inundated by the floodwaters of Dhanua river, while a canal embankment breached on Monday due to gushing water in Satyabadi and Gop areas of Odisha’s Puri district.
Several villages were affected in Ketakipatna and Balaramgarh panchayats of Satyabadi block as the floodwaters of the river created a breach on a canal embankment on Subarnapur-Gabakund road, sources said.
The floodwaters submerged villages and hamlets like Nandi Gorada, Nahaksahi, Deulapari, Bishwanathdeuli, Baliupara, Nua Budhakera and Puruna Budhakera under Ketakipatna panchayat.
Similarly, Nua Kholamara, Kalia Pokhari and some other areas were inundated by the floodwaters in Gop block
Satyabadi Tehsildar Jayant Jaysingh, who visited the affected areas, said around 200 people belonging to 40 families have been shifted to a safe shelter centre by the personnel of ODRAF and Fire Service.
The affected people are being provided with both dry and cooked food as well as other essentials, while arrangements have been made for ensuring the availability of safe drinking water, he said.
“We are alert and fully prepared to deal with any situation and to ensure safety of the people,” he said.
Veterinary and agriculture officials have been asked to visit the affected areas and provide necessary assistance to the people, he said adding medical officers are also taking steps for providing necessary healthcare support.
