Rain Intensity To Fall Over Next 3-4 Days In Odisha; Downpour Again From Sept 18

Bhubaneswar: The intensity of rainfall is likely to decrease in Odisha from Wednesday, but the brief lull will be followed by another extreme spell with the formation of a cyclonic circulation over the Bay of Bengal on September 18.

“An upper air cyclonic circulation is likely to form over north Bay of Bengal off north Odisha-West Bengal coasts around September 18. Under its influence, rainfall activity is likely to increase over east and central India,” the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said in its morning bulletin.

The next 24 hours will see heavy rainfall at one or two places in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and Balasore. Thunderstorm with lightning alert has also been issued for one or two places in Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Angul, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Cuttack and Ganjam during this period.

Yellow alert for thunderstorm with lightning is also likely at one or two places in Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur and Kendrapada on September 15.

While thundershower will continue in the state for three days, the intensity will rain will increase again from September 18, the MeT office said.
