Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government would launch career counselling for the students of Class IX and X of its schools soon, said chairperson of Mo School Abhiyan Susmita Bagchi on Monday.
Bagchi stated this while reviewing the implementation of Student Aspiration Programme through videoconference. The career counselling would be extended under the Programme which has been launched on a pilot basis in 300 high schools which have been transformed under the Mo School Abhiyan.
She said the counselling would not only help the students and their guardians make career planning but also boost their confidence. It would also motivate the parents to admit their children in government schools.
Emphasising on overall personality development of the students, Bagchi called upon the District Education Officers (DEOs) and headmasters to take steps to improve their English-speaking capacity. The officials can take the help of former students and school mentors in this regard.
She further asked the officials to provide vocational training to students and make them proficient in mathematics, science and computer science.
