Subarnarekha Port Opens JN Tata Vocational Training Institute In Odisha’s Balasore
Balasore: Subarnarekha Port Private Limited (SPPL) has set up a centre of JN Tata Vocational Training Institute (JNTVTI) at Baliapal in Odisha’s Balasore district.
JNTVTI, the premier skill development training institute of Tata Steel, aims at enhancing the skills of local youths, thereby boosting job opportunities. Located at Baliapal College of Physical Education (BCPE) campus, it is equipped with best-in-class classroom infrastructure along with hostel and mess facilities for both boys and girls.
It opened with 32 students in the first batch and will add 4 more batches in next 6 months to onboard 125 candidates, who will be trained to become Site Safety Supervisors, Civil Supervisors and Mechanical Fitters.
Inaugurating the institute on Friday, Balasore district collector Dattatraya Bhausaheb Shinde said, “A reputed and professionally-run technical institute at a comparatively remote location such as Baliapal will certainly empower the local boys and girls to improve their skills and improve their prospects for job opportunities in the industrial sector not just in Odisha, but across the country and beyond.”
Prakash Singh, Executive Director, Subarnarekha Port Pvt Ltd, said, “With the economic progress of the region, it is imperative that we augment the skills of the youth to prepare them for current and future job opportunities. It is in this aspect that we are certain JNTVTI will play a critical role. The Institute will not just help bridge the demand-supply gap for skilled manpower, it will also address the upcoming job opportunities that will soon be created as our port project moves ahead.”
Jaya Singh Panda, Chief, Learning and Development, Tata Steel; MK Verma, Director, JNTVTI; Samrendu Pattnaik, Senior General Manager, SPP; Adwaita Kumar Patra, president, BCPE and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
Located in Jamshedpur, JNTVTI is a public charitable trust driven by the Capability Development Department
of Tata Steel. The first Institute was opened at Jamshedpur in 2015. Since then, its campuses have been set
up at five locations where Tata Steel operates.
JNTVTI offers more than 150 courses in different trades based upon the requirements of prospective recruiters. After successful completion of training, JNTVTI provides job opportunity to candidates with vendor partners of Tata Steel and various other organisations.
