According to sources, a herd of elephants entered Kulad village late on Thursday night following which the locals informed the forest department to drive them away.

On being informed, forest guard Ghadei along with other forest officials arrived at the village. However, while chasing them away, the wild elephant charged toward the forest staff.

Unfortunately, Ghadei fell to the ground while the other officials managed to save their lives.

As a result, an elephant trampled Ghadei to death on the spot. His dead body was sent to Angul District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) for autopsy.

Meanwhile, his family staged a protest outside DHH demanding a job for a family member with a compensation amount of Rs 20 lakh from the government for Ghadei’s death.
