Cattle In Odisha’s Berhampur Get Radium Belts To Avoid Accidents & Save Them
Berhampur: In a bid to bring down the number of road accidents and save precious lives of the stray cattle, a group of animal lovers has launched a unique campaign in Odisha’s Berhampur.
The group has started tying radium reflective collar belts on the stray cattle to draw the attention of the drivers during night to enable them to spot the cattle and not hit the animals.
So far, they have put over 400 fluorescent flip-flop belts on the stray animals and intend to put 10,000 such belts on the stray animals that are run over by the heavy vehicles and the number increasing in the recent past.
These collars are safe and comfortable for the animals and the members are visiting more and more lanes everyday to put collar belts on the cattles.
The members of the group identify cattle owners and hand over the belts to them and also tell them that they should not let cattle stray onto roads.
The group arranged such ‘glow in the dark belt’ of its own without the help of Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMC) amidst a welcome response by the general public.
