Kochi: A case was filed against popular Malayalam TV anchor and actor Govindan Kutty after a model accused him of sexual assault, reported Mirror Now.
Govindan, who is also MD of YouTube news platform ‘ABC Malayalam’ has been accused of sexually assaulting the model several times after promising to marry her.
Govindan has been booked by Ernakulam North Police on charges of rape and physical assault.
The model, who is also an actress, told police that Govindan sexually assaulted her multiple times at a rented accommodation in Ernakulam. She also claimed that she was molested inside his car and at the villa of a friend, Reporter Live reported.
The model had met the 42-year-old Govindan on the set of a YouTube talk show.
They grew close and Govindan promised to marry her.
When the accused was reminded of his promise, the woman was physically abused, according to the report.
The model filed the complaint on November 24, following which Govindan started sending her threatening messages on WhatsApp, urging her to withdraw the complaint.
After Govindan was granted bail by the District Sessions court, the model moved the Kerala High Court. She also sent letters to the chief minister, DGP and Police Commissioner.
