Miniature Artist Satya Maharana Of Berhampur Creates ‘World’s Smallest’ Hockey Stick

Berhampur: With the fever of FIH Hockey Men’s World Cup 2023 gripping Odisha, miniature artist Satya Narayan Maharana of Berhampur in Ganjam district has come up with ‘smallest’ hockey stick in the world.

Satya took 30 minutes to create two miniature hockey sticks made of ‘Gambhari’ wood. While the height of one stick is 5 mm and width 1 mm, the other’s size is 1 cm in height and 1 mm in width. “I hope this would register as the smallest hockey stick in the Guinness Book of World Records,” said Satya.

Earlier, 37-year-old Satya has set 25 international and national records for creating smallest artefacts in different mediums.

Meanwhile, the students of the state government run Industrial Training Institute (ITI) at Berhampur are in the final process of creating hockey sticks and hockey ball with scrap iron, which they claim would be largest in the world.

“This may create another world record with largest hockey sticks. The height of each hockey stick would be 43 feet and width two feet. The radius of the hockey ball is about two-and-half feet,” they said.
