Bhubaneswar: Archana Nag, the prime accused of honey-trap and extortion racket, will on Tuesday appear for an examination in integrated law degree course, which she is pursuing from Capital Law College, Bhubaneswar.

Archana, who is currently lodged in Jharpada Special Jail in Odisha capital, would sit for the 7th-semester examination as per the jail manual, sources said. She is a fourth-year student at the institute.

The lady blackmailer will write the papers from the jail premises following court’s permission. The JMFC court has reportedly instructed the prison authorities to make the necessary arrangements in this regard.

Archana through her lawyer had sought the court’s permission to appear for the exam. Bhubaneswar JMFC-5 Court had earlier granted her permission to fill up the form for the exam.

The jail authorities have assured her of complete cooperation, sources said. The examination of Capital Law College is slated to continue till February 17.

Earlier this month, the central investigating agency had attached a bungalow worth Rs 3.4 crore owned by Archana Nag and submitted a preliminary 2241-page charge sheet in court against her and three others in the money laundering case.

The ED is investigating the financial transactions of Archana and her husband Jagabandhu Chand after it was ascertained that the couple has amassed property worth Rs 30 crore in a span of only four years from 2018. The couple was accused of blackmailing rich and influential persons and earning crores by trapping them in the sex racket.
