Was Rahul Gandhi’s Plane Denied Permission To Land At Varanasi Airport?
New Delhi: Hours after a Congress leader claimed that Rahul Gandhi’s plane was denied permission to land at Varanasi airport late on Monday, the official account of Lal Bahadur Shastri Airport on Tuesday tweeted that the Wayanad MP had himself cancelled his trip to the Uttar Pradesh town.
“The flight was cancelled by M/s AR Airways by sending an email to AAI Varanasi Airport at 2116 hrs on 13th Feb 2013. Please correct your statement as the flight was cancelled by the operator,” the airport wrote in response to an article alleging the same.
Senior Congress leader Ajay Rai had alleged that Rahul was scheduled to land at the Babat airport here on his return from Wayanad in Kerala, but returned to the national capital as his plane was denied permission “at the last minute.”
The former Congress chief was scheduled to visit Prayagraj for a function at the Kamla Nehru Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, Rai said, adding: “Prime minister of the country has been anxious since Rahul Gandhi led the Bharat Jodo Yatra. Now, they are troubling Rahul.”
