Odisha: Kandhamal Haldi, Coffee Catch PM Modi’s Attention At Aadi Mahotsav
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi bought coffee and haldi from a stall from Odisha’s Kandhmal put up at the ongoing Aadi Mahotsav tribal festival here as he stopped to ask about the products and how those were made, sources said on Sunday.
The PM interacted with Daringbadi FPCL regarding GI-tagged Kandhamal haldi and enquired about traditional farming being followed in Daringdabi, sources said.
The PM inaugurated the festival on February 16, which is an annual initiative of the Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation Limited (TRIFED) under the Ministry of Tribal Affairs. Over 200 stalls, showcasing rich and diverse heritage of tribes from across the country, have been erected at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium. Around 1,000 tribal artisans are participating in the festival, which will continue till February 27.
On the occasion, the PM was also presented with several gifts, including a palm leaf painting of Krishna’s journey from his birth by an Odisha-based National Award-winning artist.
