1 Injured In Group Clash During Gram Sabha In Odisha’s Puri
Puri: One person was injured when two groups clashed during a gram sabha held for discussing various government programmes in Satyabadi area of Odisha’s Puri district.
Sources said the village meeting had to be stopped midway on Friday following the group cash in Sandara gram panchayat under Satyabadi block of the district.
The injured person has been identified as Bikram Jena, former vice chairman of Satyabadi block. He was admitted to a nearby hospital for treatment. Later, Jena lodged a complaint at Satyabadi police station.
Trouble started after a youth made allegation about irregularities in the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) scheme in the block during the meeting.
When the block officials asked him to provide evidence to substantiate his allegation, a an altercation between two groups erupted. Subsequently, both the groups attacked each and Jena sustained injuries in the process, sources said.
