Bhubaneswar: A team of AIIMS in Bhubaneswar has planned to conduct training programmes to teach primary caregivers from the city and peripheral health centers to spread the knowledge in managing acute and chronic wounds.
This was stated by Dr Ashutosh Biswas, Executive Director, AIIMS Bhubaneswar while speaking at a workshop organised by departments of Trauma & Emergency, General Surgery and College of Nursing on advanced wound care for nurses, primary caregivers and paramedics.
He said primary caregivers including doctors, paramedics and nursing staff need to focus on prevention and management of diabetic foot ulcers, pressure sore, traumatic wounds, venous ulcers like wounds at home setting. The training aims at addressing these issues, he added.
The AIIMS team comprising experts from departments of Trauma & Emergency, General Surgery and College of Nursing will impart the training.
The workshop on advanced wound care was participated by the staff from different hospitals, including AIIMS, CRPF, KIMS, multiple PHCs and others. The programme was a one-day training that covered a range of theoretical constructs and a practical hands-on activity related to managing and caring for acute and chronic wounds.
The programme was attended by Dean Dr PR Mohapatra; Dean, Medical Superintendent Dr DK Parida; Principal, College of Nursing Dr Asha P Shetty; HoD, Trauma & Emergency Dr Chitta Ranjan Mohanty and HOD, General Surgery Dr Manas Ranjan Sahoo.
