Unique Tribute To Biju Patnaik By ITI Berhampur Students In Odisha; Know How
Berhampur: The students of ITI-Berhampur in Ganjam district are gearing up to pay tribute to legendary leader and former Odisha Chief Minister Biju Patnaik on his 107th birth anniversary in a unique way.
The students of the ITI are busy creating a 10-feet high sculpture of Biju Patnaik, considered the father of ‘Skill Odisha’, from scrap. The unique creation, which is nearing completion, is slated to be unveiled on March 5, sources said.
The creation is being sculpted from iron scrap including two quintals of bike chain and fan bearing. The sculpture is almost ready now and finishing touches are being given, said an Instructor at the Institute, Maheswari Dora.
Around 50 students of the institute are engaged in the work under the guidance of over six experienced teachers and instructors.
The teachers recalled that the students of ITI-Berhampur had earlier created a record by making two 43-feet hockey sticks and a hockey ball using scrap iron during FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup 2023 in January. Each hockey stick had a height of 43 feet and width of two feet. The radius of the hockey ball was about two-and-a-half feet.
Two years ago, the students had created a 3D sculpture of Biju Patnaik on the occasion of his 105th birth anniversary as a tribute to the legendary leader.
“We have also made sculptures of Mahatma Gandhi and Netaji Subash Chandra Bose,” a teacher said.
