Odisha’s Pupul Bhuyan Wins Opera Mrs India Global 2018

Bhubaneswar: Pupul Bhuyan brought laurel to Odisha by winning the champion trophy in Opera Mrs India Global at Opera Miss/Mrs India Global, 2018. She received the award at the grand finale held in Gurugram on Saturday.

Bollywood film director Rakesh Upadhyay presented her a trophy and memento in the presence of actress Neha Dhupia.

Besides a music video and a tour of Australia, Pupul got an offer to act in a Bollywood movie on the occasion. She will play the lead in the movie, shooting for which will begin soon.

She was picked among the 700 contestants, who have participated in the competition, for the award.

“The competition was very tough. We had to prepare really hard for it. I made it to the finale of top 26 contestants,” said Pupul.

She had to spend many a sleepless night before the contest. “We were trained from morning 5 till midnight every day. We would relax by dancing after the training,” she added.

Pupul had auditioned for Opera Miss/Mrs Global 2018, three months ago.

She was adjudged winner on the basis of ramp walk, quiz, dance, personality test and general knowledge competitions.

“Every day we had to perform some tasks, for which points were given,” she said.

She was given the task to create awareness on acid attack survivor. “My father helped me a lot in this task and I could reach out to 1,200 acid attack survivors,” she said.

Pupul said that she had been preparing for this competition for the last two years. “My parents, in-laws, husband and my sister encouraged and supported me. My sister Puja Prakuti and husband Deep Thadani helped me with grooming and personality development and in enhancing my general knowledge,” she said.

She is a graduate in Science from the BJB College here. Recently, she did a guest appearance in a music album, ‘Bou Mariba Geeta’. She is also a popular anchor in Odisha and had won recognition for her acting skills in Odia movie ‘Kaunri Kanya’.

“I have many responsibilities in both in personal and professional lives and have been able to take care of those with the cooperation of my family,” she said.

Anuj Kulshrestha was the mentor of the show and Punam Gour, the director. The panellist included Bollywood actress Neha Dhupia, director Rakesh Upadhyay, Swechha Kulshrestha and model Ankita Shetty.

The competition produced by Opera Media and Recreations Pvt Ltd saw participants from across the country. It is supported by Hindi Gaurav of Sydney, which regularly organises beauty pageants every year in various cities of Australia.
