BJP Comes Down On Odisha Govt For Protecting ‘Errant’ BDO

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday came down heavily on the state government for using official machinery for promotion of BJD.

Speaking to media persons outside the Assembly, chief whip of the state BJP Mohan Charan Majhi alleged that the government is not taking any action against the BDO of Kishorenagar in Angul district who recently violated service rules by publishing an advertisement with the logo of ruling BJD, party’s green colour, pictures of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and former chief minister Biju Patnaik.

“Kishorenagar BDO Binod Bihari Behera published this advertisement in a newspaper with the BJD logo, pictures of Naveen Patnaik and Biju Patnaik on March 5 when the party was celebrating the birth anniversary of the former chief minister. This is blatant violation of service rules as prescribed for the officials,” Majhi said.

He claimed that this is one of several instances of the government officials working in favour of the BJD.

Stating that an FIR has been filed against the BDO, Majhi said Angul district collector has also been apprised of the matter. But no action has been taken against Behera so far, he added. “This clearly indicates that the government is trying to protect the official who is favouring it,” the BJP leader rued.

Demanding action against the BDO, Majhi said he has raised the issue in the Assembly during the zero hour on Monday.
