Bhubaneswar: Close on the heels of the Opposition attacking him, 5T secretary V K Pandian has landed in a controversy over some women washing his feet in full public view during an official visit to Odisha’s Nabarangpur on Saturday.
Pandian, who is secretary to Chief Minister (Transformation & Initiatives) popularly called 5T, is being trolled on social media after a photo capturing women washing his feet (which is a custom in certain areas to show respect while welcoming an elderly or important person) went viral.
Pandian visited Nabarangpur on Friday and Saturday and reviewed various projects pertaining to education, health, irrigation and connectivity.
The incident took place at Mandodongri in Nabarangpur block where Pandian visited a temple and interacted with locals and public representatives about development of the shrine and neighbouring area as a tourist destination, official sources said.
