Bhubaneswar: While Odisha is likely to experience rain for another five days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday issued yellow warning for thunderstorm and lightning for one or two places in Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj in the next 24 hours.

Light to moderate rain or thundershower may also occur at a few places in Nabarangpur, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Balasore, Bhadrak, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and at one or two places in the remaining parts of the state during this period, the MeT office said in its midday bulletin.

On March 23, light to moderate rain or thundershower is likely at a one or two places in Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sundargarh, Koraput, Malkangiri and Balasore while dry weather may prevail in the rest districts.

The IMD has also forecast a rise in the day temperature by  2-4 degree Celsius during the next 3 days and no large change thereafter.

Notably, Bhubaneswar had recorded the highest of 34.6 degree Celsius in the state and Nuapada the lowest of 15.4 degree Celsius in the last 24 hours. This despite the state capital witnessing heavy downpour on Tuesday afternoon under the influence of western disturbances, which also led to waterlogging at some localities. The mercury is likely to rise to 36 degree Celsius in the city during the day, it added.
