Kendrapada: A 32-year-old man allegedly chopped off his friend’s genitals after a drunken brawl at Pentha beach in Odisha’s Kendrapara district.
A fight broke out between Bhagabat Das (30) and his friend Akshya Rout of Bankeswar village while they were drinking at the beach on Sunday. As the situation escalated, Akshya pulled out a sharp weapon and allegedly chopped off Das’s genitals and fled the spot.
Das was first taken to the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Rajnagar and later shifted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack as his condition deteriorated.
Police have detained the auto-rickshaw driver, whom the duo had hired for the trip to the beach, for questioning. A case under IPC section 307 (attempt to murder) has been registered at Rajnagar police station and further investigation is underway.
