Jharsuguda: Three days after he went missing from Odisha’s Jharsuguda district, a 10-year-old boy has been rescued at Bilaspur in neighbouring Chhattisgarh.

Jharsuguda Superintendent of Police Smit Parmar reportedly said that the boy, identified as Prince Soni of Buromaal area in the district, has been found and rescued in Bilaspur.

It has also been made clear that the boy was not abducted by any one. He had boarded a train and went to the Chhattisgarh town on his own. He is safe and a team of police personnel has been sent from Jharsuguda to bring him back.

According to sources, the boy had been missing since April 7. A complaint in this regard was lodged with Jharsuguda police on April 9 after which an investigation was launched.

The incident took place when the boy along with his sibling was alone at home with his mother hospitalised due to illness. His father was also present at the hospital. He was last seen standing in front of the house on the fateful day.

Police had launched efforts to ascertain the whereabouts of the boy who was finally traced in Bilaspur.

The incident had triggered fear in the area as it came close on the heels of the abduction and murder of Samarth Agrawal, 15, son of a businessman of Sarbahal in Jharsuguda. Samarth was abducted for a ransom of Rs 50 lakh on March 27 and his half-burnt body was recovered from Bheden of Bargarh district on March 28.
