Odisha Cong MLA Flays Centre For Not Opening Central School In Jeypore
Jeypore: Congress MLA from Odisha’s Jeypore Tara Prasad Bahinipati has accused the Central government of not opening Kendriya Vidyalaya in his constituency due to political interest.
Speaking to media persons on Monday, the MLA said though the local administration has provided land and a building to run the Kendriya Vidyalaya temporarily the Education Ministry is yet to take any initiative in this regard. It reflects partisan attitude of the Centre, he added.
“Jeypore, which is the second largest town in southern Odisha, has more than 20 offices of the Central government and branches of different commercial banks. Koraput district is the 5th scheduled area. But the Centre continues to ignore the legitimate demand of the people,” said Bahinipati.
Stating that he had written to Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan requesting for opening the Central School in Jeypore, the MLA said the minister had assured him of looking into the matter. But no step has been taken so far, he added.
“The local administration has extended its total cooperation on the matter for the last 3 years and allotted 8 acre of land for the school. Besides, it has agreed to provide a building beside the high school for temporary running of the Kendriya Vidyalaya,” Bahinipati said.
He said it is a matter of regret that despite being a son of soil, the Union Education Minister has been ignoring the interest of the people of Koraput district.
