Add ‘DMK Files’ to that list.
No, it’s not any movie. Rather, it’s a term used by the BJP to describe an alleged scam against ruling DMK leaders, including chief minister MK Stalin and family members.
On Wednesday, the Tamil Nadu government filed a defamation case in a Chennai court against state BJP chief K Annamalai for his ‘DMK files’.
The BJP leader last month released ‘DMK files’, alleging that Stalin was paid Rs 200 crore in 2011 to fix a Chennai Metro contract. Claiming that leaders of DMK own assets worth Rs 1.34 lakh crore earned through corrupt means, Annamalai also alleged the CM’s family members are directors of a Dubai company which is investing in the state.
DMK then sent a legal notice to the state BJP president, asking him to apologise pay damages of Rs 500 crore within 48 hours. Annamalai hit back at the DMK, asking for a compensation of Rs 500 crore and one rupee for levelling ‘baseless allegations’ and threatened to submit to the CBI details related to the Metro work contract.
“The best step is to punish Annamalai. What Rahul Gandhi said was nothing, but he has been disqualified. When they can do that, there is every reason to file a suit against Annamalai,” DMK spokesperson TKS Elangovan told NDTV.
The BJP said Annamalai, who refused to apologise after DMK’s legal notice earlier, will fight the case in court.
