Ahead Of 2024 Polls BJP Draws Plan To Make Odisha ‘BJD-Mukt’

Bhubaneswar: Gearing up for the elections due next year, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday asserted that its aim is to establish a ‘BJD-Mukt’ Odisha.

As the saffron party held its state executive meeting in Bhubaneswar, its leaders claimed that the aim is to free the state of the ‘misrule’ of Biju Janata Dal (BJD), which has been in power in Odisha since 2000.

Speaking to media on the sidelines of the state executive meeting of the party, state BJP general secretary Lekhashree Samantsinghar mounted a scathing attack on Naveen Patnaik government accusing it of having failed in all spheres.

She said plans have been chalked out for BJP to reach one crore families in the state and make them aware of different centrally-sponsored welfare schemes of Narendra Modi government and  ‘failure’ of the BJD government.

Stating that the Centre has been implementing pucca house, drinking water, employment generation and other programmes, the BJP leader claimed that benefits of these schemes could not reach people in Odisha.

Coming down heavily on the BJD government over its claim about empowering women, she alleged that the state is heading to be number one in exploitation of women.

Stating that the a number of issues were discussed at the state executive meeting, Samantsinghar said BJP will make all out efforts to make Odisha ‘BJD-Mukt’.

Claiming that law and order situation has deteriorated and reached an alarming state, the BJP leader said Naba Das murder case, power outage during President Droupadi Murmu’s event at Baripada, Mahanadi water dispute, family dispute of former ministers A U Singh Deo and Sashi Bhusan Behera have put the Odisha government on the back foot.

Sources said a blueprint has been prepared at BJP state executive meeting to take on the ruling BJD on issues like delay in rituals at Puri Jagannath temple, ‘missing’ of temple files, alleged irregularities in the name of 5T, poor healthcare facilities and Kotia border dispute with Andhra Pradesh.

The state executive meeting is being held under the chairmanship of the party’s state president Manmohan Samal to discuss a host of political and social issues.  Party’s state in-charge and Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan and Bishweswar Tudu were present.
