New Delhi: Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP, describing the Central government’s ordinance on control over administrative services in the national capital as “Hitlerism and dictatorship.”

Speaking at the mega rally of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) at Ramlila ground, the AAP supremo said: “When PM Modi says that he does not accept the decision of the Supreme Court, then it is called Hitlerism. Modi ji’s black ordinance says – ‘I do not believe in democracy, now dictatorship will run inside Delhi’. Now, people are not supreme, the L-G is supreme.”

Kejriwal alleged that the ordinance says there will be no democracy in Delhi and that the PM was hell-bent on stopping every ounce of work that the AAP has done in Delhi.

“PM Modi has changed the Constitution of the country. They have insulted the people of Delhi. The country has not seen such an arrogant PM in the past 75 years. When the Supreme Court delivered its verdict, PM Modi said he won’t obey the order of the apex court. This is what dictatorship looks like,” Kejriwal thundered.

Kejriwal sounded a warning for other states.

“Delhi is the first to be attacked and similar ordinances will also be brought for other states. They will bring the same ordinance for Maharashtra, Rajasthan and other states. This trend has to stop here. The movement to end dictatorship in India will begin from here,” Kejriwal asserted.

“It has to be stopped right now. We all have to stop it. Why is Modi ji targetting Delhi? In 2014 the people of Delhi gave all 7 Lok Sabha seats to BJP and said you run the country. In 2015 Assembly elections, people gave 3 seats to BJP and 67 to AAP,” the Delhi CM reminded the saffron party.

Kejriwal reiterated that AAP leaders Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain were arrested by central agencies to stop the various works in Delhi.

“But we have 100 Sisodias and 100 Jains. They will continue the good work,” the chief minister said.

Sisodia, former deputy CM of Delhi, was arrested in February over alleged corruption in the the now-scrapped liquor policy, while ex-Education minister Jain was arrested in May 2022 in a money-laundering case.

AAP’s maha rally was organised to protest against the Centre’s ordinance, which was issued soon after a May 11 Supreme Court verdict through which the Delhi government was given executive control over service-related matters, including transfers and postings of Delhi government officers but excluding those related to police, public order and land.

Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal, who attended AAP’s mega rally, stressed on the importance of Opposition unity to fight the BJP in next year’s Lok Sabha polls.
