Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s Dhenkanal district administration has submitted a project proposal worth Rs 112 crore to the state government for transformation of Mahima shrine at Joranda.
Secretary (5T) to chief minister VK Pandian had visited the shrine on May 29 and held discussion with the saints and followers of Mahima sect. He had also told the district administration to submit a project report on transformation of the shrine within 15 days.
Dhenkanal district collector on Thursday submitted the project report entailing a budget of Rs 112 crore for approval of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
As per the report, necessary steps would be taken up for development of all facilities in the shrine. Besides renovation of the “Samadhi Peetha” of Mahima Goswami, who spread the sect, the report mentions construction of a prayer hall, boundary wall, bus stand, 200 toilets for the saints and a primary health centre, renovation of the sacred pond and reconstruction of Mahima Samaj Peetha.
Besides, new roads with lighting facilities will be laid inside the shrine and around 200 saplings of palm and banyan trees will be planted to spread greenery in the area.
