Devotees To Have ‘Nabajouban Darshan’ Of Sibling Deities In Puri For 3 Hours Tomorrow

Puri: The devotees will be allowed to have ‘Nabajouban’ darshan of sibling deities of Jagannath temple in Odisha’s Puri town for 3 hours on Monday, a day before famous Rath Yatra.

After spending 14 days in Anasara Ghara (sick room), Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra will appear in ‘Nabajouban Besha’ (youthful attire) on Monday.

As per the tradition,  Banakalagi ritual of the deities will be performed on Sunday. Following this, the servitors will be engaged in making preparation for the Nabajouban Besha. Since the ritual of ‘Ubha Yatra’ will not be performed this year, the Nabajouban darshan has been restricted to 3 hours, said sources.

The ritual of Chala Apasara will be performed at 6 am on Monday, followed by Anasara Tati and Patadian Bisarjan by 7.30 am.

While “Parmanik darshan” (paid ticket holders) will be allowed from 8 am to 9 am, “Sahana Mela” or free darshan will be held from 9 am to 11 am.

The temple management and district administration have geared up for smooth darshan of the deities by the devotees who are expected to turn up in large numbers in the town.

The police and security forces conducted a mock drill on the Bada Danda (Grand Road) where the three chariots will be pulled on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the district administration has issued a traffic advisory and helpline numbers for Rath Yatra.
