Coronation Anniversary Of Odisha’s Last Great Emperor Kapilendradeva To Be Celebrated In Bhubaneswar & Cuttack

Bhubaneswar: The 588th coronation anniversary of King Kapilendradeva, the founder of Gajapati Dynasty, will be celebrated at Bhubaneswar and Cuttack on Thursday. He had ascended the throne on June 29, 1435.

This historic day is to be celebrated in an event jointly organised by Rediscover Lost Heritage (RLH) group, Silver City Cuttack (SCC) Public Charitable Trust, Maa Jageswari Club and INTACH, Bhubaneswar Chapter.

The groups will celebrate the historic day at the Kapali Matha in Old Bhubaneswar and then at the Bada Thakura Temple of Gopinathpur Sasana Village in Jagatpur block of Cuttack. Both these places contain important historical aspects and stone inscriptions related to Great Gajapati Kapilendra. This is the 2nd following year that the groups are celebrating the historic day.

With an objective to create heritage awareness and remembering the contributions of Gajapati Kapilendradeva towards Odisha and Odia culture the above mentioned groups will jointly celebrate the coronation day event.

The event will start at Kapali matha in Bhubaneswar at 7 am tomorrow. It will be continued at the Bada Thakura Temple, Gopinathpur Sasana village in Jagatpur block of Cuttack from 8.30 am onwards. History enthusiasts & culture lovers will participate in the celebration.
