Odisha: Peon Held For Stealing From Puri Jagannath Temple Donation Box

Puri: A peon has been arrested for allegedly stealing Rs 800 from Jagannath temple’s donation box in Odisha’s Puri town during the counting process recently.

The accused has been identified as Sushant Kumar Routray.

According to sources, Sushant was working as a peon in the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration office and was assigned the task to count the donations received along with other officials on Saturday. He reportedly left the spot in a tizzy even before his shift ended, raising suspicion among others present there.

The members later checked the CCTV footage and found Sushant putting some money from the donation box in his pocket. They then informed the administration about the incident and accordingly, a complaint was lodged with Singhadwara police, which arrested Sushant on charges of stealing and forwarded him to court.
