Balasore: In a ghastly incident, a man allegedly killed his wife in the presence of his family members and slept beside the body at a village in Jaleswar area of Odisha’s Balasore district.
The terrible incident reportedly took place late on Monday night at Chalanti village under the jurisdiction of Jaleswar police station of the district.
According to sources, the accused, identified as Arjun Pandapat, was married to Lily and the couple has a minor daughter. It was alleged that Lily was often harassed by her husband and in-laws.
The couple entered into a heated argument over some issue last night. In a fit of rage, Arjun attacked his wife with a sharp weapon in the presence of his family members, killing her on the spot.
Without any remorse, Arjun reportedly slept beside his wife’s body after committing the heinous crime. However, their daughter informed the neighbours about the incident she had witnessed.
After getting information from the villagers, police personnel from Jaleswar rushed to the spot and took Arjun into custody. The body of the woman was sent for postmortem. Investigation is underway and further details are awaited.
