Bhubaneswar: Eminent film director Himansu Khatua’s Odia documentary, “The Sea & Seven Villages”, has been selected for the ‘Long Documentary Competition’ section of the 15th International Documentary and Short Film Festival of Kerala (IDSFFK).

The festival is scheduled to be held in Kerala from August 4 to 9. The documentary is the result of exhaustive research work carried out by Khatua. He wants to give a vivid message about climate change and its impact on Satabhaya.

Produced by Iti Samanta and presented by Achyuta Samanta under the banner of Kadambini Media, the documentary depicts life and struggle of the people of Satabhaya.

Satabhaya, once a cluster of seven villages, is said to be the first orphan of climate change after five villages turned into watery graves with the passing of time. The documentary also gives a real picture of dare devil attitude of the people of Satabhaya in facing the onslaught of the sea.
