Man Beats Wife To Death For Opposing Liquor Consumption In Odisha’s Nabarangpur
Nabarangpur: A man in an inebriated condition allegedly killed his wife for opposing consumption of liquor in Odisha’s Nabarangpur district on Sunday.
As per reports, the man, identified as Rabi Khilo of Malkangiri had settled in the village of his wife Sasmita Khilo at Badadaibhata under Nabarangpur police station after their marriage. Having two sons, the couple used to earn their livelihood by selling roasted corns in the local market.
But Rabi used to spend most of their meagre income towards consumption of country liquor. When Sasmita opposed this, he was quarreling and even assaulting her, the locals said.
On Sunday when Rabi came home drunk, Sasmita again picked a quarrel with him. The quarrel escalated into heated exchange of words and Rabi, in a fit of rage, attacked Sasmita with an umbrella. He hit her several times till she died on the spot.
On being informed by the villagers about the incident, a team from Nabarangpur police station went to the spot and sent the body for post-mortem. They detained Rabi and were questioning him.
