Very Heavy Rain Likely In Cuttack, Bhubaneswar By 7PM; IMD Issues Orange & Yellow Alerts

Bhubaneswar: Amid the prediction about formation of a low pressure area over Bay of Bengal in next few hours, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday issued orange warning of moderate rain/thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and one or two intense spells for 10 districts of Odisha, including Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.

The alert has been sounded for some places in Nuapada, Balangir, Khurda, Cuttack, Angul, Dhenkanal, Deogarh, Nayagarh, Puri and Jagatsinghpur till 4.15 pm.

The twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack are likely to experience one or two intense to very intense spells of rain till 7 pm. The IMD has warned of waterlogging in low-lying area, and occasionally poor visibility and traffic disruption in urban area likely.

 

Yellow warning of light to moderate rain/thunderstorm with lightning has been issued for Jajpur, Bhadrak, Koraput, Malkangiri, Kendrapada, Ganjam, Keonjhar, Sambalpur, and Jharsuguda in 3 hours. People have been advised to keep a watch on the weather and accordingly move to safer places to protect themselves from lightning strikes.
